I have to admit it is difficult to compliment one of Olly's qualities, mainly because he has so many assets which are truly imperative in any sport he does. As his football coach, you may expect me to choose the traditional skills e.g. speed, strength or endurance etc etc, but the first thing that caught my eye when watching Olly was simply his balance. Olly does have tremendous endurance you just need to see the results of our weekly fitness tests to know that however there is a specific reason I love how balanced Olly is. I have coached football for close to a decade now and the number of footballers that do not finish attacks, lose the ball, falling down on crosses or simply lose their footing I could count every player I have coached (believe me, that's a lot); I have never seen this from Olly. I have watched him pretty much assaulted on a pitch yet manage to land on his feet, the importance of this skill towards dance is obvious and helped with a level floor however, the importance somewhat goes under the radar in football terms it is a skill only focussed on in the professional/semi-professional level. Olly's ability to stay balanced is something he may not know is important in his game, but it is what makes him special to the team, I know that Olly can produce tremendous skill, goals, crosses, passes and dribbles I know the underlining foundation of all these skills comes from his ability to be balanced no matter what.
Olly is truly a testament to himself and the hard work he puts in on a daily basis. I wish I was allowed to pick more than one element to Olly's game as I could write a dissertation but again all his skills/abilities are built through tremendous balance. It could be dance or football either way the skills picked from both sports contribute together resulting in the truly remarkable sportsman of Olly Bohane.
